Old Firm: Man on trial for bottle incident in Rangers vs Celtic clash | Football news

A man who allegedly threw a bottle at a Celtic backroom employee during the Old Firm clash has appeared in court.

Alan Crawford appeared separately at Glasgow Sheriff’s Court on Monday, where he allegedly assaulted a Celtic employee during Rangers’ 2-1 loss to their rivals Glasgow on April 3.

The 32-year-old alleges that he assaulted Daniel Friel at Ibrox by throwing a bottle at him “which caused it to hit him in the head leaving him severely injured and permanently disfigured”.

Crawford was displeased when he appeared before Sheriff Iain Fleming.

He has been released on bail and will appear back in court at an unconfirmed date.
