One dead, 8 wounded in shooting near Fort Valley State University during homecoming weekend

Authorities in Georgia are investigating a taking pictures that killed one particular person and injured seven others throughout an off campus occasion close to Fort Valley State College.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said early Saturday morning that the one that died was not a Fort Valley State College pupil.

In an announcement to NBC’s affiliate in Atlanta, WXIA, the college confirmed there have been college students on the occasion who suffered accidents, including that “none have been reported as life-threatening.” Fort Valley State College quickly positioned the campus on lockdown following the taking pictures. That lockdown was later lifted on Saturday morning, in response to the college.

Fort Valley State College, an HBCU situated about an hour-and-a-half south of Atlanta in Peach County, was gearing as much as host homecoming festivities on the faculty.
