Ontario reports 1,607 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths
Ontario is reporting 1,607 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 630,671.
For comparison, last Saturday had 854 cases and the previous Saturday had 728.
Five other deaths were recorded on Saturday, bringing the province’s death toll to 10,024.
Of the 1,607 reported cases, 623 were unvaccinated, 31 were partially vaccinated, and 89 had unknown vaccination status, the Ministry of Health said. The remaining 864 cases were recorded among fully vaccinated people.
The data records that 323 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.
There are 146 patients in the intensive care unit due to COVID-19 and 94 patients in the intensive care unit on ventilators.
Within the last 24 hours, 42,205 tests were completed. The data also says 19,569 tests are under investigation.
The positivity of the test reached 4.6%. This is an increase from last Saturday when the test’s positivity reached 3.5%.
Meanwhile, the province also said there were 786 cases believed to have been resolved on Saturday. A total of 610,592 Ontario residents are reported to have recovered from the disease.
