Oscar Isaac is bringing his talents to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the first trailer for Moonlight Knight.
The trailer for the upcoming Disney+ show debuted Monday during the NFL playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals, airing on ABC and ESPN.
There have been several iterations of Moon Knight since his comic book debut in 1975. Isaac plays Marc Spector in the Disney+ series, which inspired modern comics, depicting the character’s struggles with multiple personality disorder. Moonlight Knight will take place between ancient and modern Egypt.
Oh AcademyJeremy Slater is the lead screenwriter, along with Mohamed Diab, the filmmaker behind the Cannes TV series Conflict, directed the six-episode series alongside Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. Ethan Hawke will play the villain, who he modeled after David Koresh, the leader of the Branch Davidians who died during the siege of Waco in 1993.
Previously, Isaac said of the film, “we were doing something quite different and it didn’t follow… the same logic as what a lot of superhero movies do.”
Moonlight Knight is the next MCU show to debut on Disney+. A year ago, Marvel Studios branched out into streaming with WandaVision, has earned three Emmys and followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What if…? and Hawk Eye. Marvel’s streaming plans include Miss Marvel, She-Hulk as well as the second season of Loki.
