Oscar’s day out: Charity fundraising

Some time ago we received an email from a woman named Jess. Jess says her son Oscar watches all of our YouTube videos and absolutely wants to meet me and the team.

Jess also told us in an email that Oscar suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Firstly, we’re happy to actually have a regular viewer of our channel, let alone someone who wants to meet the rest of the team.

But second, we thought this would be a great opportunity to not only meet Oscar and have a fun day out with him, but also the perfect opportunity to raise money for charity.

So we gathered around, went through a few emails, and came up with an idea for a fun day for the Oscars.

The legends at Porsche Australia gave us the keys to the Porsche 992 911 GT3 and 992 911 GTS to use for the Oscars holidays, Queensland Circuit gave us some track time and their resident racer. I, Chris Atkinson, joined us on some hot laps and helped with our drag race.

We also pledge to donate all proceeds from Oscar’s YouTube videos to Save our sons Duchenne muscular dystrophy background.

Each time you view and see an ad, we’ll be able to donate another amount. If you feel even more generous, you can open the video on YouTube and click the ‘Thank You’ button to donate a little more to the cause. Every penny is greatly appreciated!

We snuck over to Oscar’s house in the GT3 to surprise him and pick him up for the big day – he had no idea what we were doing or what we had planned.

Oscar climbs into GT3 and the chatbox reveals that he knows more about cars than all of us combined!

Our next stop was Alborz’s home, where Oscar had the chance to peruse and peruse Alborz’s car collection. We tasked him with choosing a car that we could take to our next stop, McDonalds, but also to Queensland Racetrack, where we planned a drag race with our two Porsches.

Maccas sees Oscar meeting boys and girls in blue, giving him a chance to check out the Kia Stinger highway patrol car, play with a set of handcuffs, and throw his mother under the bus for accused ran a red light last week.

Oscar also got the chance to pick up his lunch from a drive in Alborz’s Lamborghini Huracan Performante, which he picked up from Alborz’s garage a little earlier.

When we got to the Queensland Racetrack, Atko booked some lap time give GT3 and GTS before we put Oscar in the car for a hot lap with the fearsome rally racer.

Oscar day ended with the opportunity to host a drag racing video with me. Oscar did a great job of introducing and engaging.

My last hope was to destroy Alborz’s Lamborghini with a GT3 or GTS, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. After the GTS was defeated in a head-to-head confrontation with the GT3, GT3 lost twice to Performante (by the smallest margin in one!).

We had a great time with Oscar and hope that this video can generate enough views for us to donate a meaningful amount to charity. And again, if you’re feeling generous, tap the Thanks button on the video to donate more than we get for a single view.
