Packers ‘Aaron Rodgers not’ afraid of ‘retirement or ‘move on’ as he decides on NFL future
Aaron Rodgers just became the NFL’s second four-time MVP on Thursday night. What he said after – not during – his acceptance speech at the NFL Honors made the most of the news.
During that speech, Rodgers recognized MVP Peyton Manning five times, who presented the award to Rodgers, before giving an aggregate address. He thanked various parties and then ended by giving the award to the late Ted Thompson, who drafted Rodgers as general manager of Green Bay, and the late Maura Mandt, a former ESPN producer.

Among those Rodgers thanks is Packers coach Matt LaFleur, who coached Rodgers to two of his four MVPs.

“Two in three years, win this – you’re a huge part of this. I love you, I appreciate you,” Rodgers said. “Thank you for believing in me, supporting me, empowering me, and making things so easy for me.”

Rodgers has remained unashamed on the subject, saying he hasn’t made any decisions and is just focused on enjoying his MVP title.

Similar to Tom Brady, Rodgers did not give an exact timetable for an announcement, only saying it would come in “appropriate time.” He added that he doesn’t want to put the Packers in a difficult situation with its timing.

By his own admission, Rodgers was unhappy with upper management at Green Bay and the way certain situations were handled. Rodgers notes that those relationships and the direction of the group have improved.

The Packers ended the 2021 season 13-4 and were the top seed in the NFC knockouts. They lost in the division round to the 49ers. Rodgers says the results will not influence his decision.
