Parenting: Sudha Murthy’s Lessons in Money and the Value of Money Never Get Old
During a school session, Sudha Murthy told an interesting story about her son. The story wowed audiences and is by far one of the most popular among parents.
Her son, Rohan Narayana Murthy, then a school kid, came to her and asked her to throw a lavish birthday party. “He wanted to have a big party,” she said.
Then, Murthy suggested that his son throw a small party and give the money that could have been used for a big party to their family’s driver so that his son could get an education.
“My son was reluctant at first,” she recalls. However, he later agreed to a small party.
A party that can cost Rs 50,000 has been managed with Rs 5,000 and the rest is used for a good cause.
