Melanie Wilking and her parents, Kelly and Dean Wilking, say they have not been able to speak to Miranda since January 2021 after she refused to attend her grandfather’s funeral in an Instagram video that is now going viral.
Melanie and her parents posted a tearful Instagram Live on Friday, claiming that an organization called 7M Films, an affiliate of a Penetecostal cult that believes in something called the Seven Mountain Mandate, is arresting Miranda hostage.

7M Films is not considered a controversial Christian denomination – broadcaster Paula White, for example, is a follower of 7M.
Miranda reacted to her family’s allegations on her Instagram stories on Sunday, claiming that she stopped talking to her family because they called police a black boyfriend (now husband ) and dance partner James Derrick when she moved in with him, not because she was banned from contacting them by 7M Films.
She also wrote, “I can speak on behalf of James and our friends who are on the 7M team that they SHOULD talk to their families (so what have you heard about the dancers? 7M not talking to their family is a total lie). It was just a unique situation with my family…”
Derrick also posted a response on his Instagram stories, saying it all started with “a beautiful white woman who moved in with a poor black man from Compton whose parents disapproved. I get it!” he continued. “I’m renting a room and don’t have a car. I’m a divorced man with a son”.
He also said that they got married “and joined an agency that made me successful for a few months,” referring to 7M Films. He clarified to his followers that 7M is “not a non-profit religious organization but a secular for-profit company run by people of faith in god” and that the organization this “manager [his] bookkeeping and tax and financial help.. Their job is to manage/control our books and schedules. ”
