The revival of Starz .’s most beloved comedy party finally found a way to reunite Adam Scott’s Henry and Lizzy Caplan’s Casey.

After much discussion in the media surrounding Caplan’s inability to appear for six episodes of the third season due to scheduling issues, the show has managed to keep its final twist – and appearance – under wraps. her short. As a card at the end of the season’s finale, viewers get to meet Casey, who landed a role in a hit TV series that left her heartbroken, in her chance encounter with Henry after he decides to intends to end things with Evie (Jennifer Garner).

This was the long-awaited moment for fans who loved Henry and Casey’s chemistry in the first two seasons before the series about an original serving team was signed back in June of this year. 2010. Co-created by John Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge and Paul Rudd, party features an all-star cast that includes Ken Marino, Jane Lynch, Ryan Hansen, Martin Starr, and Megan Mullally.

In an interview with hollywood reporterCaplan describes the “devastating” feeling of having to choose between a regular role on party and her Hulu series Fleishman is in troublehow the surprise cameo ended up coming together, why it was so important to her to have another season, why Casey’s absence during the final six episodes could is a blessing and is there any other chance meat man.

At what point do you have to make the decision to miss the regular role for Party down’s back?

It’s the end of 2021. I know I will meat man the beginning of the year and Deadly charm at the end of the year, and then party came together sometimes in all very long negotiations for meat man. I was adamant: “Guys, we have to find it. I’m obviously not lacking party – no way. I would get on a plane if I had a seven-hour break and race back to LA, shoot a scene and come back. What I have to do, I’m willing to do, so let’s figure it out.” And they were like, “No.” (laugh.)

The meat man Team say no?

Couldn’t put that in the deal because of COVID. There is no popping on the plane back and forth. We are still very much under the thumb of COVID and for good reason. A lot of people have COVID on both Deadly charm And meat man, and it derails production. I would wear seven masks, but they can’t legally wrap around the head. It’s brutal. If I were less enthusiastic about the concept of having to do meat manThe decision won’t be so painful.

By the 11th hour, I thought miracles would happen and I would be able to do both. I’ll officially say that I don’t regret the decision when we were cast in season four (laugh), and I can join party season four. But if I completely removed my emotions from it, then in terms of narrative it could benefit the show that Casey only appears at the end – as much as that makes me say it.

Because you love to explore things with Evie?

Yeah, I think all of that by Evie works great. I admire John Enbom, Dan Etheridge and Rob Thomas – all the people who made the show. I’m amazed that they managed to get all these people in the same room 12 years later reliably and in such a short time. Maybe one more person would lean too much. This is their job they had 12 years ago when they were all trying to do and be something else. I thought maybe I was just trying to justify things in hindsight. (laugh.) I know for a fact they would make it work perfectly if I could make it all season. But if we get a season four, everything will go as planned. If we hadn’t had season four, I would never have been upset about this.

It’s amazing that the revival even happened. When the first run of the program ended, I remember being confused that America couldn’t manage to support it.

It is very wild. And let it go back and really don’t miss a beat, like everyone’s shooting at all the turrets. I loved it so much, just wanted to see it as a spectator. I don’t know if I have mixed feelings about it if it’s hard. And I have to say I die laughing at every episode. I felt really lucky that I then texted each of them and told them how excellent they were and pulled out the specific things they did that got me doomed.

Do you engage in conversations about where Casey’s path has taken her?

There was a version of the show that Casey was on during the season. I don’t remember if I read the script or just heard about it. But it was the same thing when she was on a show, and so she was successful in a way. There’s a lot of fertile ground there for future seasons because someone had to create it.

What do you remember about realizing that you could at least make the cameo on the finale a success?

They come up with ideas, which are immediately there. I was in production on meat manand they [wanted to] figure out how to do this one day stealthily.

How do you feel when Casey and Henry get back together?

Great. I love Casey and Henry. It was wonderful and wonderful to see Ken for such a short time, even though we don’t share device time. It just feels like this is a story that I want to keep telling. I love their relationship so much. I’m so proud to be on this show and I’m just proud of all things Henry-Casey. It always works great and I always support them.

It seems obvious how you’ll feel about the fourth season, but is there any word on actually making more episodes?

No one told me. I wish more than anything that I can tell you right now. I don’t know what would have to happen for it to come back. I don’t know what the rating is. I don’t know what the number of subscribers did because party. But I know that as a spectator this time around, it works on every level. They have done their job by creating six perfect episodes. And so I’ll be shocked if it doesn’t come back, but party nothing if not the weak.

You mentioned Fleishman is in trouble. Is there any possibility that it returns for another season?

No, never supposed to be a half for meat man. That’s a lot one person does once and has to be. On a human level, personally, it’s one of my all-time favorite jobs. i like to do meat man; I love my co-stars for that; I fell in love [series creator] Taffy [Brodesser-Akner]. We had to shoot in New York. It’s a very, very special, wonderful job. As for myself, I will do a thousand more seasons meat man, but for the work itself, it is a story with a beginning, middle, and end. And I believe in the end more than in my personal desires.
