The husband of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving to a charge of influence related to a crash in May in California’s wine country and was sentenced to five days in prison. imprisonment and 3 years probation.

Paul Pelosi served two days in prison and received conduct credit for another two days, said Judge Joseph Solga of the Napa County Superior Court. Paul Pelosi will work eight hours on the court agenda for the rest of the day, Solga said during Paul Pelosi’s sentencing, which he did not attend.

State law allows DUI misdemeanors to appear through their attorneys unless otherwise ordered by the court.

As part of the probationary process, Paul Pelosi will also be required to take a three-month drunk driving class and install an ignition interlock device, where drivers must provide a breath sample first when the engine starts up. He will also have to pay nearly $7,000 in fines, the judge said.

Paul Pelosi was arrested following a crash May 28 in Napa County, north of San Francisco, after a DUI test showed he had a blood alcohol level of 0.082 percent, above the legal limit.

Officers responding to the 10 p.m. crash near the wine town of Yountville said they found Pelosi in the driver’s seat of a 2021 Porsche Carrera and the other driver standing outside a sports car multi-use, according to the lawsuit.

California Highway Patrol agents reported that Pelosi “was unsteady, her voice was livid and smelled of alcohol.”

Pelosi offered officials her driver’s license along with an “11-99 Foundation” card when asked for identification, the lawsuit said. The 11-99 Fund supports CHP employees and their families.

Prosecutors filed the case as a misdemeanor for injuring the 48-year-old driver of the SUV. They declined to identify the driver, saying he had requested privacy.

In an interview with investigators from the district attorney’s office, the driver reported pain in his right upper arm, right shoulder, and neck the day after the collision. He said he also had a headache.

Pelosi was released on $5,000 bail after being arrested. Speaker Pelosi was in Rhode Island giving the opening speech at Brown University at the time. Her office declined to comment.
