Pelicans’ Williamson has a rear hip collision, Ingram has a head injury

Pelicans are seriously injured forward Zion Williamson injured again. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that the 6-foot-8 man suffered a hip injury near the end of New Orleans’ 122-121 extra-time loss to Jazz Sunday. The severity of the illness, which could indicate a timeline for recovery, has not yet been revealed. In his first two games of this season, Williamson averaged 20.5 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.0 APG, and 2.5 SPG for the Pelicans.

The other star striker of the team, Brandon Ingramalso left the competition early after the club determined he had developed concussion-like symptoms from a head injury, reports ESPN’s Andrew Lopez. Ingram collides with the small forward Pelicans Naji Marshall while trying to steal. Ingram averaged 28.0 PPG, 8 RPG and 6 APG across its first two complete competitions. He played only 11 minutes against the Jazz before finally leaving the game.

New Orleans is currently 2-1 for the 2022-23 youth NBA season, but if either player is sidelined for extended periods, the club may need to rely on shooting protection CJ McCollum for more scoring punches, and may be looking for more minutes from the reserve team Marshall and Larry Nance Jr. if it is necessary to make up for the absence of Williamson and/or Ingram.
