People, horses die in car accident in Polk County

MULBERRY, Fla. – A person and a horse were killed Monday morning in a crash in Polk County, sheriff officials said.

According to a tweet from Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, a vehicle hit a horse on Anderson Road in Mulberry.

The horse and one person on board were killed, the tweet said.

Details of the cause of the crash have not yet been released.

Anderson Street is closed from Nichols Street to District 640 Street.

“We are at the scene of a car-horse collision on Anderson Rd in #Mulberry. All Andersons between Nichols Rd & CR 640 are decommissioned. The horse and one of the occupants of the carriage were dead. Please use alternate routes until further notice,” the tweet said.
