Petition seeks to name walking trail after deceased firefighter – Montreal


A younger Montrealer is asking the town to pay tribute to firefighter Pierre Lacroix, who died throughout a rescue operation on the St. Lawrence River on Oct. 17.

Alexandra Lajeunesse needs to have a path that stretches alongside the banks of the St. Lawrence within the Lachine, LaSalle, and Verdun boroughs named Pierre-Lacroix Path, in honour of the fallen firefighter.

The trail, stretching a number of kilometers, overlooks the Lachine rapids the place Lacroix, a firefighter from Station 64, misplaced his life whereas saving boaters in misery.

Lacroix, 58 years previous, was married with two kids. His official funeral was held final Friday at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal. Some 1,200 firefighters, from Montreal and throughout North America, attended the service.

Thursday morning, a number of days after its launch, the petition on the web site change.org had collected greater than 10,700 signatures.
