“Weekend Updates” hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che had a special guest appearance on the January 29 episode of the show. Saturday night live: Peyton Manning. The two-time Super Bowl winner spent most of his appearance on the skimming segment Emily in Paris, and he also mentioned Tom Brady’s retirement rumors.
Jost started the conversation with Manning by asking him about last week’s NFL games, which the former quarterback said he sounded great but didn’t see because he started the first episode of season two of the series. Emily in Paris and can’t stop watching.
“Oh, my God, Colin, this show has it all: adventure, sex, culture, fresh feminism – finally,” he said. “Not to mention, a culinary tapestry is so rich, I can only describe it as erotic food.”
Jost told Manning he was glad he enjoyed the Netflix series and asked him about rumors Brady might be retiring.
“Yeah, I’m not sure that’s true,” Maning replied. “I think maybe it’s just speculation, but if it were me, I would probably retire too, if it gave me more time to see Emily in Paris. And I really think for Tom right now, it’s just a tough decision between balancing his career and his relationships – sort of like Emily.”
Manning goes on to explain how Lily Collins’ Emily experiences a classic confrontation between her career and her love life, dominated by so many exes – Gabriel, Mathieu Cadault, Timothée and Doug from Chicago .
“She had to go through her development and knock Alfie down in the apartment,” he said, with a football playbook in the back. “Sure, it’s like a broken play and she said just tear it up, but emotionally, she’s moving forward.”
Manning continued, “You know what’s not on the sidelines? Fashion! Plaid parachute pants, plaid newsboy hat, men’s cardigan with fur trim and fingerless driving gloves. ”
As Jost continued to be amazed, Manning blew the football away to watch Emily in Pariss, the Hall of Famer told the presenter watching football is the safe thing to do, “what people expect me to do.”
“But if I learned anything from Emily, it was to follow my passion and stay true to myself,” concludes Manning.
