Photos Show Taliban Takeover Of Kabul
Taliban recapture the Afghan capital Kabul, on Sunday after quickly retaking much of the country following the departure of the nation’s president and US forces. The Taliban released a statement on Twitter saying they had entered the city for security and that foreign nationals would not be in any danger. The US and other countries evacuated most of their staff over the weekend, with chaos and death at the airport opened when thousands of people tried to flee.
The Taliban are regaining control of the country just before the August 31 deadline that President Joe Biden has set for the withdrawal of US troops after nearly 20 years of war.
