pichai: Google CEO Sundar Pichai on how he wants Twitter under Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk‘S Twitter Takeovers have been the talk of the town for a while. There are some people who feel that Twitter will be better Musk while there are others who feel that things could change for the worse. Google CEO Sundar Pichai was recently asked what he thinks about the move. In an interview with CNBC, Pichai first said that he is an avid Twitter user. “I think it’s a hugely important product for the world, I’ve learned a lot from it,” Pichai told CNBC.
He added that he sees a lot of value in investing in Twitter over the long term. Although Pichai didn’t actually check Musk’s name, he said he would “want to see the product continue to get better” because he thinks “because it plays an important role in a democratic society.”
In the same interview, Pichai also talks about how to balance free speech. “I grew up in a large democracy and the importance of freedom of speech and giving people voice is what I think is really fundamental,” he said.
Giving an example of how Google tackles freedom of expression and content moderation, Pichai said that Google takes down things that “break the law”. He said Google has clearly outlined community policies and guidelines that help maximize freedom of expression. “In a product like YouTube, where we recommend and where we can amplify content, we have community guidelines. So we have clearly outlined the policies. And we act. And that’s what really allows us to maximize freedom of speech, [to] helps keep the platform safe for everyone involved,” the Alphabet CEO told CNBC.
