Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trailer Shows New Battle Scenes, Confirms Ranked Matches

At the conclusion of the 2022 Pokemon World Championship in London, The Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara announced a new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, focusing on battle mechanics and online play.

The trailer opens with the introduction of a new Pokemon, Dragon-Type and Normal-Type Cyclizar, that showed off a new move called Shed Tail. This move works like a combination of Substitution and Baton Pass, creating a Poke Doll replacement before instantly exchanging it for another Pokemon in the party.

The trailer also showcases new upcoming battle items for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, including the Mirror Herb, which mimics how an opponent’s stats increase and applies it to the item holder and the Dice Dice. creates multi-hit attacks that have a higher chance to hit maximum hits.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is the ninth core installment of the Pokemon franchise, introducing players to the region of Paldea and its two legendary Pokemon, Koraidon and Miraidon. The game launches November 18 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
