Authorities arrested a teenager and seized a firearm at his home after a threat was made against Cass City Public Schools.
On December 6, a felony lawsuit was authorized against a 14-year-old male male for threats made at Cass City Public Schools to “re-enact Oxford,” according to the County Prosecutor’s Office. Tuscola.
The juvenile was immediately arrested when authorities were notified of the threat. The prosecutor’s office said the gun was later seized from the teen’s residence.
On the same day, the teen was charged with one count of making false statements or making terroristic threats at Circuit Court 54 and remains in juvenile custody for further proceedings.
Several other unrelated incidents across Tuscola County are still under investigation.
“Decisions now can have lifelong consequences. People need to stop and reflect before sharing reckless posts on social media and making statements,” Tuscola County Prosecutor Mark Reene said in a statement.
