Police investigate allegations of fraud in UGA athletics fundraising
ATHENS, Ga. (CBS46) – The University of Georgia police are investigating an alleged financial fraud committed in the sports association’s development office earlier this year.
The UGA Police Department said it opened an investigation on February 1 in response to a complaint filed by Ford Williams, UGA’s deputy chief operating officer, about large gifts.
Police say they suspect an unidentified individual has committed identity theft and fraud using fake credentials to solicit money from UGA sponsors and transfer it to an account. personal. The amount involved is not included in the report.
