Police said the stuck pedal caused the driver to run to a stop sign when the SUV crashed into the house
IDAHO FALLS – A woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries after an SUV crashed into a home on Thursday night.
It happened at the intersection of Lomax Street and Wabash Avenue at about 5:50 pm
Jessica Clements, the driver of the Chrysler Town and Country pickup truck was traveling south on Wabash Avenue when an object got stuck on the gas pedal, according to Idaho Falls police spokeswoman Jessica Clements. This makes it impossible for the driver to stop at the intersection.
A Mercury Mountaineer was traveling west on Lomax Street through an intersection when the truck hit the SUV.
“The car turned around once, and the Climber continued up the sidewalk and into a house,” Clements said.
The foundation and exterior of the house on 600 Lomax Street was significantly damaged. A person inside the room facing the wall that was hit is okay.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Clements said the pickup truck driver was charged for not stopping at stop signs and reminding people to keep space around pedals clear.
