Pope Francis hospitalized for scheduled tests
VATICAN CITY –
The Vatican said Pope Francis visited a hospital in Rome on Wednesday to perform some scheduled tests.
The Vatican provided no details other than to say that the pope’s visit to the Gemelli hospital was “pre-scheduled”.
The 86-year-old pope spent 10 days at Gemelli hospital in July 2021 following surgery for a bowel stricture. He had 33 cm of colon removed.
He said soon after that he made a full recovery and was able to eat and drink normally, but in a January 24 interview with the Associated Press said a diverticulum, or bulge in the wall of his intestines. It was “returned”.
