This morning GM and Honda announced an expanded partnership to jointly develop a global vehicle architecture for “millions” of affordable electric vehicles. The platform will be based on what the companies call a next-generation version of GM’s Ultium battery technology. Meanwhile, each company reports independent advancements in battery technology — including solid-state cells that are likely to arrive later this decade.
DeLorean Motor Company is back – but not this time with the revival of the DMC-12 “Back to the Future”. On Monday, it confirmed, with a first tease, that The company’s upcoming all-electric sports car would be like the beginning of something new beyond that nostalgia.
And Fisker recently confirmed that their upcoming Ocean electric SUV, still expected to arrive later this year, will offer one of the best battery warranties among electric vehicles. Fisker coverage of Ocean’s plan, which features CATL cells, guarantees 75% of initial capacity for 10 years or 100,000 miles – a good point that is likely to beat both Tesla’s 8-year standby time and the max. 175,000 miles of Rivian.
