Portuguese startup receives €4.4 million in funding

Portuguese startup knok wants to enter the EU market with a telemedicine platform – and has received 4.4 million euros from the NOS 5G Fund.

As EU-Startups report, the health technology business will invest funds in further developing its 5G-enabled telehealth solutions.


Founded in Porto in 2015, the company innovative telemedicine platform based on the new 5G mobile phone standard, enabling real-time communication between doctors and patients, 10 times faster than 4G.

Hospitals, healthcare organizations, and insurance companies can use a fully integrated 5G platform to ensure reliable access to healthcare, especially in remote areas. For example, video consultations, AI-based tools for remote patient monitoring, and medical data exchange are supported.

Medical data and documents can be easily and securely shared between patients and their doctors and between professionals in different locations using 5G. Furthermore, an accessible SaaS is also a distinctive feature of the platform


The 5G-enabled telemedicine solution has established itself as a market leader in Portugal and is actively deployed in 30 facilities in 12 countries worldwide, including Spain and South America. America.

The founders of knok are currently planning to expand the market, initially in Italy, France and the Benelux countries.
