‘Power of the Dog’ leads nominations – The Hollywood Reporter
The Vancouver Film Critics Circle has revealed its international nominations, with Jane Campion’s The power of the dog led the field this year with five mentions.
The Netflix drama Bows in Venice received nominations in the best picture category, best director nominations for Campion, best supporting actress nominations for Kirsten Dunst, and supporting actor nominations. Best for Kodi Smit-McPhee and Jesse Plemons.
The best photo contest also features Sundance’s best-selling work CODA from director Sian Heder and Belfast, which brought in nominations for Best Director and Best Screenplay for Kenneth Branagh. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Daughter is gone will compete in the Best Screenplay category, which also includes best actress for Olivia Colman and best supporting actress for Jessie Buckley.
Bradley Cooper received two nominations, one as best actor for Nightmare Alley and another is the best supporting actor for Licorice Pizza. The winners of the Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards, International Region will be announced during the VFCC Awards on March 7.
