Pre-order COVID-19 booster shot for more than 50 people starting December 13 in Guelph: public health – Guelph

Guelph’s public health unit said residents 50 years of age and older can start booking appointments for a third COVID-19 vaccine starting December 13.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health uses its own booking system, and a spokesperson said registration dates for this group match the provincial system.

To schedule a booster appointment, eligible individuals must receive a second dose of the vaccine at least six months in advance.

“If you are eligible for a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, please make an appointment as soon as possible to give yourself an extra layer of protection,” said Ontario Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran. Moore said.

Provincial officials also said they would expand eligibility back into January for age- and risk-based booster doses with an interval of six to eight months from the second dose.

A third dose was offered late in the summer to high-risk populations such as organ transplant recipients, hematologic cancer patients in active treatment, recipients of anti-CD20 agents, and residents of care homes. long-term and retirement homes, those in First Nations nursing homes and seniors in community facilities.
