Pregnant MoDOT worker’s family died while holding a newborn baby for charity | Headline News St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Kaitlyn Anderson was 22 weeks pregnant when she was killed while working for MoDOT. She was crossing Telegraph Street near I-255 when she and two others hit by a car.

She was killed along with her baby Jaxx and colleague James Brooks.

Anderson’s aunt Tabatha Moore said they planned to give Kaitlyn a bath. The gifts and decorations are reminders of what can be.

“We had decorations, cakes, cupcakes, halls all booked and paid for,” says Moore. “We started having conversations immediately about what we were going to do because it was just a knife in the wound at the time. So she [Kaitlyn’s mom] said immediately, do something to help people. “

They decided not to cancel the shower. Instead, they will use it to help mothers who are struggling.

On the same bath day, Saturday, February 12, they will be holding a charity fundraising event that collects new, unused baby items to give to mothers in need. It will happen from noon to 4:00 at 328 Andy Habsieger Street in Festus.

Bathing a newborn is just the beginning. To continue helping mothers, the Anderson family established the Kait’s Love For Jaxx Foundation.

“We started Kait’s Love for Jaxx Foundation which will be a 501(c)(3) fund[nonprofit]. Moore said.

The foundation has many parts. It will donate newborn care items to mothers in need, deliver gift baskets to grieving mothers and wear medical bracelets for pregnant women. Moore said they wished Anderson would have worn a bracelet at the time of the crash.

“When the accident happened, paramedics didn’t know that Kaitlyn was pregnant,” Moore said. “The only people who might know one have passed and the other is unconscious so they don’t know to check Jaxx in her stomach.”
