Pregnant woman killed after returning from her own baby’s bathroom: Police
A pregnant woman was shot dead Saturday night after returning home from bathing her baby in Philadelphia, authorities said.
Philadelphia Deputy Commissioner of Police Christine Coulter tell ABC that the victim was carrying presents from her own bathroom when she was shot in the head and stomach.
According to police, neither the woman nor her baby survived the shooting.
“I mean, the person who did this couldn’t be more cowardly,” said Coulter, according to WPVI-TV in Philadelphia.
City is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney say on Twitter.
“This news is extremely sad and heartbreaking,” he said in a tweet. “My heart goes out to the loved ones of the victims during this painful time.”
Coulter expressed his disappointment and hinted that the fatal shooting may have been targeted.
“The city is having almost 500 murders. Children are being shot, unborn children are being shot, what is the city doing about this?” Coulter said, WPVI-TV reported. “When I look at the situation, it looks like someone was targeting her and looking for her.”
According to police, the number of murder victims in Philadelphia has increased sharply by 13% in 2021 compared to last year, and has been increasing steadily since 2016.
