How long have you been blogging?
9 years – 3 as wedding planner with blog and 6 as wedding blogger
What or who inspired you to become a wedding blogger? What led you to it?
As one plus bride size, I started wedding planning with the intention of helping new brides and realized that the main people who needed help were the oversized brides. I couldn’t find anything to help me plan my wedding, specifically for me. So, knowing this void, I set out to create a space that would inspire plus size brides.
Do you run Pretty Pear Bride full time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your journey!
Well, I can finally say that I do. I started doing it part-time teaching high school biology and planning weddings, but then decided to take the leap and I haven’t looked back since.
What is your favorite property? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that?
My legs, arms, chest and backside. I tend to wear a lot of dresses and tunics. I am truly blessed to be with a husband who loves me and makes me remember it every day!
We’re in the middle of Bridal Week Plus, what do you think are the challenges and pluses of being an oversized bride these days?
The biggest challenge for plus size brides is getting inspiration to relate to them, that’s where I come in and really help create a space where plus size brides can see themselves in the industry. strawberry.
I feel another challenge is finding bridal gowns that really fit the plus-size bride. Wedding dress designers often think that all plus-size bodies are created equal and they are not. And with that as a plus, we plus size women have something other body types don’t and that’s a shape that can make for completely different wedding dresses.
With our curves and sizes, plus-size brides can fully accommodate the full range of wedding outfits.
What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding the size increase?
As a plus-size woman, I’m often frustrated with the fact that I can’t find clothes to match my style. I have a very chic, chic and preppy style, and most of the brands I love are no plus sizes. It’s frustrating to know that there are brands I love but I can’t patronize. This should definitely change!
What’s your favorite thing about being the owner of an oversized wedding website?
That I have a chance to really make a difference. What I do every day really impacts people. I created something that people look at every day for inspiration… it’s a great feeling!
What do you think about plus size fashion and plus size bridal fashion today compared to a few years ago?
Plus size bridal fashion? The two have certainly come a long way but they still have a long way to go. I just feel that designers, both bridal and casual, think that plus size women are all built the same.
And we all know that’s not the case at all.
They really need to work on creating fashions that suit the many shapes and styles of plus size women.
What do you think or hear from readers, one of the biggest myths about plus size and/or plus size brides?
One of the biggest myths of plus size brides is that all we need is an A-line skirt and nothing else. I love the way designers have added slimmer dresses that are more flattering, flowy, and have more curves.
The plus size body looks great showing off all those gorgeous curves we have.
