The shooting took place a week ago, on Monday, June 27. Police attempted to stop Jayland for an alleged traffic and equipment violation. “That changes the whole nature of the traffic stop,” the sheriff said Sunday. “IT has gone from being a regular traffic stop, to now becoming a public safety issue. And then the chase continued.”
