PSA: Get All Harvest Moon Games Before 3DS and Wii U eShops Close
If you’re into the farming games community, you’ll know all about the Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons split, which featured (localization team and western publisher) Natsume and (developer) Marvelous went their separate ways. Natsume kept the Harvest Moon name in the West, and created a series of extravagant a disappointing sequel, while Marvelous was forced to rename their game “Story of Seasons”, losing the recognition of the Harvest Moon franchise.
We don’t quite know what the working relationship is between the two, but it’s relatively safe to assume that the divorce situation is messy. maybe which means there is little chance of Harvest Moon remaking or re-released in our future. The most recent was a remake of the 2003 GBA game. Friends of Mineral Townfor the Nintendo Switch, but we have yet to see any older games announced for the Nintendo Switch Online service.
That means it would be wise to get the Harvest Moon games out of the 3DS and Wii U eShops, along with the Virtual Console service, as well as any DLC you don’t already have, before they close forever. far into March 2023. Many of these games are also physically available,

Rune Factory 4 is also available on Switch, and as we mentioned, so is the Friends of Mineral Town remake.
If you already own one or more of these games, be sure to re-download them – although Nintendo has confirmed that the ability to reload games will be available “in the near future” after March 2023, you never know when that could change.
And maybe let’s hope for some more Friends of Mineral Town-style remakes from Marvelous too, huh?
