Quebec municipal election results: Montreal East – Montreal
Mayoral candidate Anne St-Laurent has defeated Montreal East’s long-standing mayor, Robert Coutu, in a major shift on Sunday evening.
St-Laurent turned the primary lady to be elected as mayor within the metropolis.
She was elected in 2017 as town councillor of District 6, whereas Coutu took the reins of town in 2009 and saved his place for 3 mandates.
Anne St-Laurent received 50.3 per cent of ballots, surpassing Coutu by 158 votes, who bought 40.1 per cent of the vote. Anik Ruel, an unbiased candidate, got here in third with 9.6 per cent of the vote.
