Quebec reported 1,355 new COVID-19 cases on Friday and two more deaths from the virus.
This is the highest number of new daily cases in the province since April 16, when officials reported 1,537 cases.
The number of hospitalizations related to COVID-19 increased by three from the previous day, to 230, after 24 people were hospitalized and 21 people were discharged. The number of people in intensive care increased by four to 57.

Authorities say 27,893 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the past 24 hours, including about 16,000 doses for children aged 5 to 11.
The health department says 86% of residents aged 5 and over have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. About 89% of people with Quebec disease 12 years of age or older are considered fully vaccinated.
The Nunavik region in northern Quebec has the highest number of cases per capita in the province, with 797.9 positive cases per 100,000 people, followed by the Estrie region, east of Montreal, which has 260.5 confirmed cases. extreme over 100,000 people.
