Quebec reports 699 COVID-19 infections, 5 more deaths when vaccinating children 5 to 11 years old
Quebec reported 699 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and five other deaths linked to the virus, bringing the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 11,565.
Of the new cases, 416 were people who were unvaccinated or less than two weeks off the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

To date, Quebec has recorded 440,462 infections and 422,571 recoveries out of a total of 6,326 active cases.
The seven-day average for new daily cases is 728.
The number of hospital admissions due to the pandemic has decreased partly from the previous day, with 16 people being hospitalized and 17 people discharged, out of a total of 203. Of those, 46 are being treated in the ICU.

To date, 79.7% of the total population of Quebec has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
However, the government is hoping to increase that number by expanding immunizations to children between the ages of 5 and 11.
While the children’s appointments are already available on the government’s Clic Santé website, Premier François Legault and health officials only announced details of the children’s rollout on Tuesday afternoon.
