Rain causes problems for Bixby luxury living complex

BIXBY, Okla. – Heavy rainfall today has caused water to overflow some new apartments in south Bixby.

Residents told 2 News that when it rained at the Hadlee Manor luxury living complex, the water was not outside as expected. It came in a hurry for them to clean it up. They also said they spoke to management to report the problem but it kept happening.

Lacreta Richardson woke up Wednesday morning to the front door and hallway flooded with rainwater.

She just moved into the Hadlee Manor luxury complex a month ago and this is not something she thought she would face.

“I used about 20 towels just to absorb them from the flooding,” says Richardson.

She’s not the only one sad.

“It’s frustrating to learn that it’s a brand new building, a brand new unit, and they have issues like this,” said Doyle Seaton, another Hadlee Manor resident. “They shouldn’t have these problems. This is something that should have been addressed during construction, not after all units have been filled.”

Seaton and Richardson are most worried about seniors in the complex, who are wheelchair bound and deal with flooding both inside and out.

“The people at the back end are in wheelchairs and to get to their vehicle, they have to go through a lot of water. That’s not good,” says Seaton.

It doesn’t just come to the door. They showed 2 News a pipe in their utility room where rainwater also entered.

“I have a 6 liter jug and it completely fills this one [Wednesday] morning, so I had to put my big 8-gallon pot there and go pour the 6 quarts. So that’s the money that came in this morning,” Richardson said.

When they reported it to management, they were told they would look into it or they were told this, “She said I called and they said they would come and check it out next week. . We are inundated today,” Richardson said.

Both residents say they love living there and don’t want to leave, they along with other residents just want the problems fixed.

Two News Oklahoma contacted the property office but no one answered the phone and when we showed up in person, the office door was locked and no one was there during posted business hours.
