Maharashtra Parliament Speaker Sachin Sawant on Friday night tweeted a video clip from the Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar film and captioned it, “Current Rajya Sabha election in Maharashtra; BJP + Agent vs. MVA. His tweet came even as the vote counting in the Maharashtra Rajya Sabha election had been stalled following controversies from several parties. Voting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. today.

EVENT DURATION
Seven candidates are vying for six seats in the Maharashtra Rajya Sabha election. Everyone is focused on the fight between the ruling coalition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the opposition BJP.
287 MLA voted for six seats. By 1 p.m., 260 MLAs had voted for the election.
An hour later, it was reported that the BJP opposed the three votes of the MVA. The three votes were from Yashomati Thakur of the National Assembly, Jitendra Awhad of the NCP and Suhas Kande of Shiv Sena. The BJP asked the Return Officer (RO) to hold their vote invalid.
BJP’s Parag Alawani said the objection was raised because two of the MLAs violated the rules by giving their ballots to their parties’ voting agents. Soon after, a BJP delegation went to the Election Commission in Delhi to complain about the breach of secrecy during the voting process. It requires that the counting of votes be stopped after violating the electoral process.
Maha Vikas Aghadi also wrote a letter to the Election Commissioner stating that BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar “compromised and violated the voting procedure by showing his ballot to people who are not representatives of his party. .” It also said MLA Ravi Rana showed chalisa Hanuman and tried to influence other voters and also show her vote. The MHA asked the EC to annul the votes of the two MLAs.
The Election Commission then requested video recording of the vote during the Rajya Sabha polls in Maharashtra. The EC asked the Return Officer to submit the relevant portion of the video footage.
The EC is currently weighing the issues and considering the appropriate steps to be taken in this situation.
