Random: About Tiger Boy Advance – A GBA Inside the Tiger Electronic Handheld System
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to use the full power of the Game Boy Advance into a portable gaming system from Tiger Electronics from the 80s? Probably not, but one person who has always wanted to make his dreams come true is creator and hardware modifier Chris Downing.
Downing admits it’s technically nothing more than a simple mod case – putting GBA’s internals inside a Tiger mobile, along with some hardware upgrades. While it’s billed as a “fairly simple project,” some parts of it like 3D printing have actually turned out to be a nightmare.
You can watch the entire project in the video above, but if you don’t have time to watch it – here’s the final look of the device:
The final version of the system is actually a bit larger and comes with a custom CNC printed and cut screen protector, USB-C charging, and an IPS display. And like the GBA, it can play older Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.
You can see more of Downing’s Frankenstein works on website and Youtube Channel – he previously threw his entire Nintendo 64 into a portable case. What do you think of this Tiger Electronics x GBA hybrid? Please leave your thoughts below.
