‘Random’ break-in in northeast Calgary leaves suspect with minor injuries from police canine bite – Calgary

Police are investigating what they believe to be a “random” break-in in northeast Calgary on Tuesday that resulted in the suspect being bitten by a police dog.

The Calgary Police Service confirmed to Global News on Tuesday night that the break-in occurred at a home in the 100 block of 7th Street NE around 8:30 p.m.

They said a woman broke in and started vandalizing the house while a woman was inside. CPS added that officers believe the suspect suffered from a drug-induced psychosis at the time of the crime.

Officers responded to the incident but did not provide details on what led to the dog biting the suspect. Police said the suspect suffered minor injuries before being sedated at the scene and then taken to hospital.

Police said the landlady was not injured and they were unable to provide details on what if any charges the suspect may face.
