2022 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for Kirby. The first is the release Kirby and the Forgotten Land back in March – which we described as ‘an absolute delight’ in our review – recently had 30th Anniversary Celebrationand now the chompy couch co-op game release, Kirby’s Dream Buffet.

To celebrate this latest game release, Kirby Café in Japan took to Twitter to announce that both their Tokyo and Hakata branches will start selling Dream Buffet-inspired desserts from September 1.

The dessert, which roughly translates to ‘Kirby’s Candy Gourmet Tart’, is a stacked dish consisting of a tart filling topped with strawberries, cream and of course, a plump looking Kirby. The yellow, brown and green balls around the main event are a clear callback to Dream Buffet’s competitive Kirbys – although based on the tired look on OG Kirby’s face, it’s clear that the pink has win this round.

Unfortunately, the dessert will only be offered at two Kirby Cafés in Japan (unless they open up their international Deliveroo service), so it looks like the images above are the closest we’ll ever get. Try this tempting-looking dish for the moment.

Keeping us entertained in the meantime, Kirby’s Dream Buffet launches today and is available to download from the Switch eShop for £13.49. One way or another, we’re fixing our Kirby.
