Random: Kirby’s Voice Actor Surprised At Anniversary Concert And Everyone Loved Her
Kirby’s 30th Anniversary Music Festival brought us many surprises yesterday with some of the top performances of incredible Kirby music, but one of the concert’s biggest “wow” moments was the arrival of a certain guest – Kirby’s voice actor.
Yes, Kirby does have a voice; It’s not just a collection of noises! But, even better than that, she’s pretty adorable herself. Makiko Ohmoto has voiced the pink ball in the video game since the original Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 64 and launched her series in Kirby 64: Crystal Shards. She’s been playing the little guy ever since, and it’s safe to say, it’s because of her voice that so many people have fallen in love with the character.
Ohmoto showed up at the concert yesterday, and many viewers of the stream were amazed. But, within seconds, everyone was completely captivated by her.
It’s not surprising given Kirby’s popularity, and how many people – young and old – enjoy imitating the character’s quirky, cute voice. But knowing that Ohmoto himself was a ray of sunshine brought joy to so many.
However, everyone to be surprised to see Kirby’s voice actor in the flesh, but all she had to do was “voice”, and she won over everyone.
Several fans took to Twitter to share their shock that Kirby even had VA, let alone that she would show up at the concert. Ohmoto even sang at the concert, performing the duet ‘Welcome to the New World’ from Kirby and the Forgotten Land with Neill to end the show. And it was a great concert.
Of course, Makiko Ohmoto doesn’t only voiced the pink ball, and she has several credits on both Nintendo and non-Nintendo games. In the Kirby series, she voiced Rick and Iro (Kirby: Right back to Ya!), Queen Sectonia (Kirby: Deluxe Triple Room), and Susie (Kirby: Planet Robot). She is also the voice of Ness in Smash Bros. , which means you can make her two characters fight each other! And to round out those Nintendo voice credits, she even voices Viridi in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
It’s by no means an exhaustive list of her roles on Nintendo games, but she has had plenty of other notable credits throughout her career. She’s been the voice of Makino for a long time in the anime A pieceand she also has a recurring role in Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi cross game. But, most surprisingly, she is Sayaka Maizono’s voice from Danganronpa: Activate Happy Havoc.
She is a talent and a star, and everyone loves her. It was a lovely surprise to meet her at the concert yesterday.
