Lucas Pope has only released two full-length games – Papers, please and Return of Obra Dinn – but in those two games, Pope had about 10 billion prizes. Man is basically buried under BAFTAs and GOTYs, so it’s no surprise that it’s been a while since we’ve heard of anything next, other than a little Playdate game called Mars after midnight.
Papers, Please – an “incest documentary thriller” that challenges your memory and morals – is one of those games where you treaty is now on Switch, along with other easy wins like Witness and Her storybut it hasn’t reached the small platform yet.
The mobile version, which has been in the works for a while, will include some tweaks to the new format, such as a new look, fewer stall upgrades, and tweaked timers, to make it all fit the vertical screen. However, there won’t be any new content.
This iOS and Android version finally has a release date: August 5, which is almost nine years to date since the original PC version of the game in 2013.
Pope acknowledged the nine-year gap between versions with a chirping tweet:
