Random: Masahiro Sakurai Reminds Nintendo Fans Of The 3DS & Wii U eShop Closing Date
Like you maybe know now, Nintendo will stop offering 3DS and Wii U eShop from March 28, 2023. And at the end of this month August 29you will no longer be able to top up your eShop card (aka points) into your account.
This is happening all over the world, and as a result – Nintendo fans around the globe are looking for certain digital titles ahead of time. Even Super Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai is making the most of these digital stores while he still can.
Here’s a rough translation of his most recent social media post (via Google translate) – essentially reminding fellow 3DS and Wii U users about the closure:
“For more than two weeks you won’t be able to add points to the 3DS and Wii U… I was patrolling the electronics store and thought this was my last chance. Because of the touch panel, maybe there are many things that will not be carried over to other models.”
Unfortunately, he doesn’t state whether he’s made any purchases, but as he notes – a lot of games use the touchscreens of these systems, possibly not. necessarily ported to other platforms in the future. We can’t imagine him being so excited about the older Super Smash Bros. DLC. will be retired.
3DS and Wii U eShops aren’t the only ones coming to an end – with Sakurai announced earlier this month that he was almost out Super Smash Bros. Screenshots.
