Random: The rating for this hopeful ring matching opponent is not good
When Ring Fit Adventure published for the first time, some of us were not convinced. Wii Sports great, but we ended up failing badly, and getting all that extra gear was a pain. But we were wrong. Ring Fit Adventure is very good – good enough to spawn competition.
Join Quell Hero, the “future of fitness games” platform by design studio Morrama that, like Ring Fit, tasks players with jogging in a linear 3D world and battling monsters. Squeeze? All are boxy, supported by a tactile support waistband that attaches to resistance straps and a motion-tracking controller.
The haptics are new – the trailer promises that you’ll feel like you’re being punched (yay?). There are even competitive and co-op modes, which Ring Fit doesn’t have.
But perhaps, Quell Hero is not the future of bodybuilding, and certainly does not look ready to take over the Ring Fit throne.
“It has been clear to me that Quell Hero is not going to topple Nintendo’s title to be the next big thing in fitness games,” said TechRadar’s Adam Vjestica, who criticized the limited exercise range and the $219 price tag – despite being cheaper than the Nintendo Switch and Ring Fit Adventure, more expensive just Ring Fit, and you know, there are many other games. He even said that playing Tennis Wii With a weighted wristband, it feels “much more engaging to play than mindless boxing.”
“There’s no reason to choose this over Ring Fit Adventure, [a] Mission 2, or even Wii Fit for that matter. […] Nintendo and Meta’s hardware isn’t just designed around fitness games either, which means a much larger value proposition than what Quell Hero could hope to achieve. “

Return to Ring Fit Adventure for us, then. Or maybe it’s time to get Gymnastics Boxing 2…?
