The family of deceased DMV rapper Goonew is speaking out after his homecoming celebration at Bliss Nightclub in Washington, DC went viral. In an interview with Fox 5 DC, Goonew’s mother, Patrice Parker Morrow, said she can grieve however she wants. She explained this is how they wanted to celebrate the late rapper, Markelle Morrow, and didn’t understand the controversy.
“That’s how he wants to come out. We wanted to celebrate his life, and throw a party. She also shared a message for online haters. “For all the negativity, people might not even know about us,” she said. “They have no opinion. People just say what they want to say, and that’s fine. That’s perfectly fine. I’m pleased with the way I sent my son. I ask everyone to let me grieve in peace.”
Despite the negatives, Goonew’s family spared no expense in celebrating. One of his sisters, Ariana Morrow, also spoke to Fox, saying, “We’re not trying to unravel anything. We don’t care about anyone and what you will have to say negatively. Nobody. We do not care. Ariana added, “They were like, I know his mom wouldn’t approve of that. Yes, she did, she was on stage with us. “
As we reported, Goonew’s mummified body was placed on the stage of Bliss Nightclub wearing designer clothes. Includes an Amiri sweater, jeans, sneakers and a tiara on top. Rapper TI walked into The Shade Room, commenting on the family’s reaction. “If he and his mother see it, what is our business? He is clearly a guy who stands up,” he wrote.
