Rebel Wilson Hosts BAFTA Film Awards – The Hollywood Reporter
BAFTA said on Friday that Rebel Wilson will host the 75th British Academy Film Awards on March 13.
The ceremony, which celebrates the best of British and international film talent, will be returned to London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall, and broadcast on BBC One, BBC One HD and BBC iPlayer.
“I am honored to host the EE British Academy Film Awards in March, where COVID will no longer exist because it will obviously be cancelled,” Wilson said. It will be fun! I don’t want to put any pressure on this – I know I won’t be funny because I’m not fat anymore. And besides, I won’t ‘sweat’ out of stress because I have a particular medical condition that can’t sweat… or offend people with my lovely Australian accent. So I’ll basically just be there to hang out with Dame Judi Dench and we’ll both try and stick with Daniel Craig together. And yes, I mean ‘bonds’. This show will be a celebration of some important British film franchises like HARRY POTTER and not like CATS. Everyone will love it, I’m sure! ”
Amanda Berry, CEO of BAFTA, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rebel Wilson as presenter of this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards. Rebel has stolen the show at a number of Film Awards before, and we’re overjoyed to see her bring her charisma and great humor to the entire show as we celebrate the good. best in the movie.
Last year’s hosts were Edith Bowman and Dermot O’Leary.
Wilson will make her debut as presenter of the EE British Academy Film Awards. She holds a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts (Theater and Film) dual degree from the University of New South Wales. Rebel’s career began on the Sydney stage, where she often wrote and produced her own work. This led to various television shows in Australia, where she quickly became the most prominent female voice in Australian comedies. In 2010, Rebel moved to the US with a role in the hit classic BRIDESMAIDS. Rebel is perhaps best known in the world for playing FAT AMY in the PITCH PERFECT trilogy, which are the highest-grossing musical comedies of all time. Rebel’s other feature credits include Academy Award-winning JOJO RABBIT, IT’S NOT A romance, HOW TO BE SINGLE, THE HUSTLE – and in 2022 will appear in the upcoming cheerleader comedy SENIOR YEAR and the TV series THE ALMOND AND THE SEAHORSE with Charlotte Gainsbourg based on the West End stage play.
Nominations for the EE British Academy Film Awards will be announced on February 3.
