Rephr Brushes Review
As a beauty writer, I wear more makeup than anyone I know — seriously. My dressing table is full of lipstick, blusheye palette, sunscreenand mountains of new beauty products waiting to be tested. However, oddly enough, one makeup product that my vanity has been missing are high-quality brushes. Honestly, I’m not sure why my collection is missing this piece, but I always find that my Real Techniques beauty sponge does the trick for 99% of my makeup routine. That said, I’m always open to trying new things in the space, and honestly, the fact that I haven’t touched a makeup brush in months due to my work seems wrong on so many levels. , so I knew I’d have to do my hands on a few options to see if they could take the place of my trusty beauty sponge.
Last week, I received a selection of eye and face brushes from the makeup brush brand, Rephrand I haven’t stopped using them since. At this point, I don’t even know how long I’ve been using my fingers to apply eyeshadow, but I digress. Haven’t heard of the brand before? Here’s a bit of background information: Rephr is a brand founded by AAPI with a mission to provide customers and professional makeup artists with high quality makeup tools (brushes, curlers and preservers) at affordable prices. Oh, and did I mention that this brand is loved by famous makeup artists like Daniel Martine, Hung Vanngo and Katie Jane Hughes?!
Rephr Brush Review
Well, you may be wondering what the hype surrounding these brushes is? I’m here to tell you, they feel like you’re rubbing little clouds over your face – it’s so much fun. Made from uncut natural hair by artisans in Japan, the bristles of these brushes are soft and smooth, perfect for eyes and face. The entire eye collection has 15 brushes, but my favorites are 16 . brush and Brush 03. According to the brand, Brush 16 is designed to pack on a quick base coat. I’m not one to do any crazy looks other than a simple pink background and that’s exactly what this brush does. It does not require much effort to get the desired color and the fallout is very little. To improve the look a bit, I went in Brush 03 around the crease of my flap to add a little dimension.
When it comes to foundation and blush on my face, I chose 17 . brush and Brush 24. The background brush has a perfect flat surface for packing on the platform without any burrs. While I still prefer to apply foundation with a beauty sponge, a brush is definitely not out of the question. I found that the product didn’t get absorbed into the bristles, but absorbed into the skin very quickly. For blush, this brush has a more rounded shape, perfect for applying product directly to the apple area of the cheeks and high points of the face if you want a more flattering look.
Reph Vanity System
It’s as if my dressing table wasn’t a pile of makeup, but now it’s even more messy with brushes. However, the trademark of Modular Vanity System be the ultimate game changer. Well, now I don’t have any lipstick or brush on my desk – that’s amazing. This set comes equipped with a component for brushes, lipsticks, brushes, palettes and everything in between. The best part? They’re magnetic, so you can arrange them into a setup that works for you. Personally, I’ve organized my makeup by pattern: foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and lipstick. This way I can easily get the products I need in an assembly line-like manner and it saves me a lot of time and stress. I no longer have to rummage through my closet to find the products I crave, they’re right there in front of my eyes. Plus, the sleek black design is classy – I feel like a professional makeup artist. For someone who has applied their shadow with one finger up to this point, that says a lot – trust me.
Overall thinking
From the brush to the vanity system, I was thoroughly impressed with Rephr. Initially, I was nervous about using brushes because I didn’t want them to feel like I was scrubbing my skin, but that’s far from happening — hallelujah. The brushes combined with the vanity system completely upgraded my makeup from gray to bland. Finally, while the brushes are available for purchase separately, you’re better off buying The complete face and Complete eye collection to save yourself almost 50 percent and have more options at your disposal.
