Replaces Inline-6 Hemi on top of production from Stellaantis

It looks like Stellantis is getting ready to put its long-rumored inline six into production at its Saltillo, Mexico plant, which could mark the beginning of the end of the series. By Chrysler Hemi V8 5.7L long run. But so far, the American automaker’s brands have not known exactly where the new turbocharged I6 “Tornado” could land. Stellantis powertrain blog Power (by Muscle cars & trucks) detected an entry for the new “GME T6” inline six engine on the Saltillo facility’s website, indicating that it is in production or close to it. That entry has since been deleted, but the mystery remains.

We’ve heard rumors here and there about this new inline engine for years, but this is the first time we’ve seen anything suggesting its arrival is imminent. Normally, such an important powertrain update would coincide with the launch of a new product to showcase it. To this day, Stellantis remains the mother, even abroad, of where this engine is settled. The car models of 2022 are likely to be completely out of the question.

But while the new engines come out with new car and vans, it is not a universal truth. Ford’s Coyote V8 missed correspondingly Mustang a year refresh, for example, changes the 2010 model year and its much-needed styling updates to the old 4.6L V8 (and 3.8L V6, for that matter; the 3.7L Duratec is also late with the that party). Even just stick with Stellantis, JL Wrangler’s the powertrain has been perfected since it appeared back in 2018. The standard V6 and 2.0-liter turbo-4 debuted at launch; EcoDiesel, 392 and 4xe all followed.

And 4xe can be the model to measure our expectations. Its introduction isn’t entirely out of place, but it’s rather abrupt for what turned out to be such a solid gift. That bodes well for the company’s existing Hemi-powered trucks and SUVs. The Ram 1500, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer all are good candidates to receive the new Hemi replacement, as all will greatly benefit from even small improvements in the energy saving. If there is a future for charging dock and The Challenger and Chrysler 300, they will also benefit. And how about a Fighter with the wick facing up, has the same position as Wrangler 392. Turns that Tornado into Devil Dust. Do not worry; We have a lot of other things coming from nowhere.
