Review of BMW i7, Aptera carbon fiber, American-made Subaru electric car: Car News Today

Aptera is building Italian carbon fiber vehicles for its 1000-mile solar-powered EV. Subaru has yet to be swayed by incentives to encourage American-made electric vehicles. And we took the BMW i7 luxury electric sedan for a test drive. This and more, here Green Car Report.

In one first drive of BMW i7 2023, we found the full-size sedan to be very good – although virtually indistinguishable from its gas-powered 760i sibling. Not only is it the quietest, quietest, and fastest 7-Series model, but it also seems quieter on first impression than a Tesla Model S or Lucid Air.

Italy’s CPC Group will supply lightweight carbon fiber composite bodywork for Aptera .’s 100-mile solar power. The bodywork for the tricycle helps offset some of the weight of the battery and solar cells, and gives it something in common with the supercar.

And according to a recent report, Subaru doesn’t have the ability to make electric cars in the US, despite the recent passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) which encourages U.S. manufacturing in many ways. Subaru announced it reduced wages and said it couldn’t compete with McDonald’s. It’s a radically different decision from a host of other mainstream foreign automakers such as Honda, Hyundai and Kia, which have stepped up their plans to build American electric vehicles in recent months.
