Review of Old Navy lace-up high-waisted trousers
Similar to almost any fashion trend of early aughts, wide-leg pants made an inevitable comeback. I can’t lie, until recently, I wondered if I was really ready for the rise of this style. A mumble of “cargo pants” and my brain is immediately bombarded with flashbacks of ’90s icons like Lindsay Lohan And Avril Lavigne striding the red carpet in a pair of pants with a camo print to the point where it feels criminal (and honestly, still is). Although they tried to attract the eye, I was all too familiar with my own fashion limitations and always classed cargo pants as something that simply didn’t suit me and my body. my swagger.
However, a recent scroll through Old Navy’s new part coming introduce me to the Old Navy lace-up high-waisted ankle pants ($50), doesn’t seem to have the same traditional makeover as the classic freighter style (see: high-waisted, fitted, and cotton-made) – so much so that I call them anti-shipping pants literally. If you (like me) debate whether you’re cool enough to pass TikTok’s Latest Fashion ObsessionI’m here to convince you with this breathable Old Navy piece.
What I love about these Old Navy high waisted designer pants
I love this style that has the look and feel of classic wide-leg pants, but with a taller, sleeker silhouette. Loose pants are often defined by their baggy, low-rise silhouettes, which while fun and comfortable, don’t really make them the most versatile piece in the wardrobe; That’s not the case with this style. These cargo pants have a high-waist design that allows them to sit perfectly at the navel. The straight line of the lower part also completes the style with the flattering pleats, hugging the body without being too restrictive. These pants are incredibly easy to put on or take off, making it comfortable for me to wear them more often and pair them with more items in my wardrobe.
Remarkable thing
I have ordered a lot of things from Old Navy over the years and have always found the average size to work best with the pants department. This style has dozens of five-star ratings, most of which rave about the pants being true to size. With this in mind, I ordered my typical mid-size pants in the regular length and was pleasantly surprised to find that the style was actually a bit wider than expected. The pants fit perfectly at the shin – with just enough room to move around – but are noticeably loose at the top at the waist. Luckily, this cargo style features a partially-reinforced waist and belt detail that allows me to easily tighten the pants to fit my preferences. That said, if you want your pants to feel more snug, I recommend downsizing.
Who are these Old Navy high-waisted pants best for?
This style is ideal for anyone who wants pants that they can wear all year round. Wide leg pants are expected to be a big trend this spring – and for good reason. This style offers generous coverage on the legs, but unlike classic jeans or denim, this style is made of a much lighter and breathable material, keeping you comfortable despite the heat. warm as well as cold. These pants are great for daytime wear — I personally love styling them with a cropped white t-shirt and my Nike Air Force 1 shoes — but they’re also easy to match with an evening ensemble. more advanced with chunky sweater and some heel statement.
