Stegosoft’s Chrono Trigger-esque The Rise of the Third Power was first announced in 2018, and with a demo released exclusively on Steam last year, we’re not entirely sure if it will ever be released on Switch.
However, a new eShop listing for the game has now confirmed that it will indeed arrive on Nintendo’s console, arriving on February 10 for £17.99 / $19.99 / €19, 99. The game, which is Stegosoft’s WW1-inspired sequel Ara Fell, sees a group of eight heroes fight for survival as they battle the Land of Rin to overthrow an evil emperor, all while the clock ticks on the “recurrence of war”. greatest in human history”, which we’re assuming means some sort of World War 2 alternative universe is on the cards.
The Rise of the Third Power trailer, which you can see above, certainly looks like the part, with some pretty epic soundtracks and a nice line of dialogue in the retro pixel-based turn-based combat that makes both two remember Chrono Activator and head Final Fantasy Game.

Custom battle system – Rise of the Third Power offers eight playable characters in a battle system built from the ground up, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, all of which are meant to join the fray simultaneously without tedious one-party management. Combine each character’s unique strengths and weaknesses, analyze your enemies’ abilities, set up your formation and rush into battle.
Durable equipment – Each piece of equipment found, purchased, or stolen is a permanent upgrade, unique to each character. Instead of buying replacements, players buy upgrades. No more buying that awesome helmet back into town only to stumble across a better one like a dungeon treasure. Each character has 3 equipment slots with 8 upgrades each, for a total of 192 equipment. This system avoids the tedium of inventory management, while providing the finisher with something useful to look for.
