“Rishabh Pant has set the standard for herself”

Before Indian womencaptain of Anjum Chopra stated that Rishabh Pant was criticized for failing a few games because he had set very high standards for himself. According to Chopra, there is great expectation from the young goalkeeper because of the winning performances he has produced.

The 24-year-old Pant made his international debut in the T20I against England in Bengaluru in February 2017. He excelled in Test cricket, scoring 2123 runs in 31 matches with an average of 43, 32 with five hundred, four of which came in foreign terms.

The aggressive left-hander has also impressed in the white-ball series in England, notching a 125* record in the decisive ODI at Old Trafford in Manchester. During a Q&A on her YouTube channel, Chopra was asked why Pant was criticized after a few low scores. She explained:

“As a cricketer, we are aware that we are not always praised. We will not be criticized every day. Speaking of Rishabh Pant, he has set a standard for himself since his debut in international cricket match. “

The former Indian women’s captain made it clear:

“As he continues to perform well and has excellent performances coming up, the benchmark is getting higher and higher. So when he doesn’t live up to that standard, people feel that he hasn’t accomplished anything. Expectations from him are very high, that’s why he faces such criticism on the days when he is not performing. “

Recently, Pant had a pretty good T20I series against the West Indies, scoring 14, 24, 33* and 44.

“We don’t think about those lines” – Rushing to compete with Dinesh Karthik

Team India played with both Pant and Dinesh Karthik in the XI squad in recent T20Is matches. However, according to many critics, only one of the goalkeepers can find a spot in India’s T20 World Cup starting from the XI.

However, Pant knocked out any rivalry between the two cricketers. Speaking to Zee Hindustan, he said:

“We don’t think about those lines. As individuals, we always want to give our 100% to the team. The rest depends on the coach and captain and how the team can take advantage of that. “

Pant and Karthik will be part of the Asia Cup, which kicks off in the UAE on August 27. India face Pakistan in the opening match on August 28 in Dubai.
